The Arshalani empire is a great power located in the subcontinent of Kimon which encompasses a wide variety of lands and peoples. Founded by the prophet Mekhatim herself and ruled by the descendants of her first converts, Arshalan is the global capital of her faith and its reason for existence is to spread her holy message across the world. Its religious zeal has made it many enemies such as Mazarin, Ustilus and the Chothgar horde, who have fought great wars with Arshalan throughout the nation’s history. Nevertheless, the Arshalani people believe that as long as they remain faithful to the Prophet’s words they can face any threat and keep moving forwards until they achieve their divine mission.
The epic tale of the rise and fall of the First empire of Humanity echoes across the many peoples of Raldamain as an both a testament to the greatness the human race can achieve and a cautionary tale warning about the consequences of challenging a god. For its long duration the First Empire was the chosen state of Feyn the god of Humanity and under his guidance they built architectural wonders such as flying cities and brought the light of civilization to the primitive peoples of Raldamain. This greatness would end up corrupting the empire’s rulers who began to grow prideful and envious of Feyn himself, culminating in its last emperor leading a rebellion against Feyn in an attempt to usurp his throne. For his hubris the god’s wrath destroyed everything the empire ever built, throwing the continent into a prolonged dark age. While the empire is now gone its impact on the culture, faith, laws and technology of Raldamain is immeasurable and would form the cornerstone of future civilizations for millennia to come.
The People’s Republic of Klonum was an unrecognized short-lived state proclaimed by Crimson revolutionaries from the city of Klonum in the year 4100. Born out of the chaos of a popular revolt against a corrupt leader, the People’s republic was formed by a radical group of rebels who wanted to create a new country where the Shinri people would be united, equal and free from traditions that were holding them back. From the very beginning the People’s republic was plagued by infighting and violent purges against supposed counterrevolutionaries where even its initial supporters were targeted. After six years of fighting against the remnants of the Shinri alliance it was eventually eliminated after the recapture of Klonum which led to the death or exile of its leadership.
The Shinri empire is a nation in Raldamain which grew to become a colonial superpower after its victory in the Mazarin war. Once known as the Shinri alliance, its land rapidly changed from one ruled by feuding warlords to a modern and industrialized nation state with global ambitions throughout the 41st century. Shinri identity was once defined by the worship of the spirits of nature, and even though this faith is in decline due to the transformation from a rural to an urban society it still remains one of the pillars of Shinri culture. Respect for the spirits is one of the factors behind the Shinri empire’s global expansion as they seek to find new natural resources to extract since overexploiting their own resources would mean angering the spirits of nature.
“Ustilus represents the hopes and dreams of humanity, a shining beacon of what humans can achieve once they work together. Our nation has spread civilization and progress throughout the continent and beyond, bringing millions under the banner of Feyn and vastly improving their standard of living. But, at the same time, our name is also associated with violence and conquest, and we must not forget that many of the people who we rule see us not as benevolent overlords but as brutal tyrants. If we will move forward, even in these troubled times, we must remember what made Ustilus great and right the wrongs of our past. Because if we remain blind any longer and refuse to face reality we will face an inevitable collapse and once we fall history will judge us harshly.”
-Ileria, prime minister of Ustilus under the Constitutional monarch Theodora
The Ustilian empire was a transcontinental state which ruled vast lands in Raldamain from the southern deserts of Tamashkhan to the northern mountains in Kratoi. Claiming to be the successor state of the First empire, Ustilus fought massive wars with Mazarin and Arshalan for supremacy over the continent and achieved its greatest extent and power in the 40th century. The empire’s founding and rise sparked an era of cultural renaissance and technological development which began the Age of Triumph, creating a new golden age not seen in Raldamain since the First empire. Ustilian supremacy lasted until the year 4000 as the sudden disappearance of Feyn threw the empire into nearly a decade of turmoil which caused territorial losses and rapid political changes. This would last until the year 4010 when the rise to power of a new emperor and proclamation of the cult of the Inheritor as the new national religion forever changed the Ustilian empire and massively reformed its institutions. Now Ustilus is at a crossroads where it is no longer the strongest nation in the Continent and only fate will decide if it can rise again to its former strength or fall even more towards ruin.
